I got a new Wi-Fi router. How do I reconnect my devices?

Answer

You have two options.  You can repeat the pairing procedure for each device (download the instruction leaflet) and set schedules and smart automations again.  It is easy but time-consuming for many Wi-Fi devices.  Or, set the new router to have the exact same SSID (Wi-Fi name) and password as your previous router.  The latter requires some knowledge of your router settings but will allow all your existing Wi-Fi devices to seamlessly transfer to the new router.

Does my smartphone have to be on the same Wi-Fi connection as device to pair?

Answer

Yes, the same Wi-Fi connection is required to pair.  If you have a range extender that is closer to the Astute Smart Device, ensure that your smartphone is also connected to the extender and not main Wi-Fi Router.  After pairing is complete, the smartphone can use any internet connection (3G, LTE, Wi-Fi) to operate the app functions.

My Internet is down, how do I switch the device?

Answer

You can manually operate the ASC or ASI by pressing the Power Button (middle button) to switch it.  A red flashing light will indicate that the device is manually switched "ON".  The blue light will be off due to not having an internet connection.

My device stopped responding?

Answer

Firstly check the internet connection of the mobile phone and router.  Try rebooting the ASC by pressing the Reboot Button for 1 second (small round one, below the Power Button), then try again after a few seconds.  For the ASI switch the Isolation Switch OFF, wait for 1 second and switch it ON again to reboot.

If the device is still unresponsive, remove from it from the App and re-pair the device.

What is the warranty on Astute Smart Devices?

Will the device switch on after load shedding?

Answer

The Astute Smart Device will automatically connect as soon an internet and Wi-Fi connection is established, but will not go back into an “ON” state until the start of the next "ON" schedule.  A smart automation can be set within the app to achieve a desired state after a power outage.

Do the Astute Smart Devices work without internet connection?

Answer

No, Astute Smart Devices will not work properly without an internet connection.  The device stores all schedules in the cloud, so it needs the internet to set and run the schedules.  It can only be switched manually without internet connectivity.

What is the maximum range for the device?

Answer

A typical Wi-Fi connection needs to be within 20 meters of the Wi-Fi router.  Thick walls and other obstacles might affect the range.  Wi-Fi range extenders are commonly available from computer stores to extend your router's coverage.
