CBi Power Zone WhatsApp Groups Disclaimer, Policies, Rules and Regulations

By joining any of the CBi Power Zone WhatsApp Groups and by being a participant of a group, you confirm that you have voluntarily joined and provided your personal information, including but not limited to your cell phone number, profile picture and any other information you make visible to the group. You acknowledge that you have joined the correct group for your geographical area or province. You acknowledge that you agree to CBI (Pty) Ltd’s Privacy Policy. Furthermore, you confirm that you read and agree to the group’s rules and regulations as outlined below. Lastly, you are aware that you may opt out/leave the group at any time. All participants of the group are considered to be responsible parties in terms of POPIA, and each member is responsible for their behaviour and what information is shared on the group. CBI (Pty) Ltd or the Admins of these groups will not be liable for any reason whatsoever, in contract of delict, in relation to these groups. 

The following standard rules and regulations are applicable to all members:

1. Respect and Privacy

  • Rules, Technology and Security:  All participants agree to and must comply with POPIA, WhatsApp’s Terms of Service, and the laws of South Africa. Participants are responsible for enabling and managing their own WhatsApp security and privacy settings. CBi or the Admins of the group cannot guarantee the security of information shared on this group. 
  • Stay Alert to Scams: Participants should remain vigilant against phishing, scams or any links posted on the group. Admins will endeavour to monitor all content to the best of their ability, however members remain liable for clicking on links. CBi or the Admins of the group cannot be held liable for any consequential or indirect loss, damage or disclosure of personal information in relation to the group.
  • Maintain Civility: Treat all members with respect. Be useful and constructive in your interactions with members. Personal attacks, bullying, abusive language, any threatening, abusive, defamatory and vulgar language is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated. Members will be promptly be removed and banned.
  • Protect Privacy and Confidentiality: All information on the group is private and confidential and is meant solely for the intended participants. Do not share member contact details or personal information outside the group without explicit permission. CBi’s promotional images or videos may be shared.
  • No Unauthorised Sharing: Do not take screenshots of group conversations or sharing chat content elsewhere without consent. CBi’s promotional images or videos may be shared.

2. Relevance and Content

  • Stay on Topic: All posts must align with the group's specific purpose namely information sharing on CBi-electric: low voltage’s products and related questions. Avoid sending off-topic memes, casual chat or chain messages.
  • All Messages in English: The main language to be used for all messages is English to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings and confusion, and ensure accessibility and understanding for all members. Please avoid sending messages in other languages.
  • No Spam or Advertising: Do not post chain messages, unsolicited promotions, or unrelated memes. Only CBi and Group Admins have the right to post promotional messages related to products and services.
  • Avoid Heated Debates: Do not use the group to start political, religious or controversial arguments. Be aware of cultural sensitivities. Hate speech or racism will not be tolerated, members breaking this rule will be removed and banned immediately.
  • Zero Tolerance for Fake News: Verify information before sharing. Avoid spreading unconfirmed rumours or fear-mongering.

3. Messaging Etiquette

Avoid Monopolising the Chat: Keep messages in a single chunk of text rather than sending multiple short, separate messages.

  • Take 1-on-1s Offline: If a conversation only concerns one other member, switch to a private message to avoid flooding the group.
  • Mind the Time: Avoid sending non-emergency messages late at night or during early morning hours. Posts should be made from Monday to Friday during working hours, from 8 am to 5 pm.

4. Group Administration

  • Adhere to Admin Decisions: CBi group administrators reserve the right to delete inappropriate messages and remove members who violate these rules. The Admin’s decision is final.
  • Contact Admins Privately: If you have an issue with another member or a specific rule, address it privately with an admin rather than creating drama in the main chat. Should you want to post a promotion related message, contact one of the CBi Admins privately, for review and approval. The Admin’s decision is final in terms of what is appropriate for the group.
  • Violations and Recourse: Any member repeatedly violating these rules may be muted, temporarily restricted or removed from the group at the Admin’s discretion. 
  • Termination: CBi or the Admins of the groups reserve the right to suspend or terminate the groups in whole or in part, at any time without notice.
